In the individual competition, grassroots leaders competed for the Tournament MVPs, which earned the top four scorers a spot on the WakeUpWalMart.com Grassroots Steering Committee.

The winners were:
Caroline Vernon, Iowa

Stuart Fishman, Oregon

Margaret Heitz, Massachusetts

Ryan Cunningham, Virginia

Here is a breakdown of all the tournament details/rules from the First Annual Tournament for Change:
From March 13 - April 5, 32 teams, made up of our 188,000 plus supporters divided by specific states (we teamed up some of the smaller states to make it more competitive) competed to be the “2006 WUWM Tournament for Change National Champions.”

Each state/regional team in the WUWM tournament competed against another and the team to sign up the most new supporters won their bracket and moved on in the tournament.

The Tournament also included a special MVP category for the individual WUWM members who signed up the most new supporters. The winning state/region MVP and the top four scorers became members of the new WUWM Grassroots Steering Committee. Those leaders will have the opportunity to help us plan and attend our national 2006 Grassroots Conference and help us with ongoing grassroots strategy decisions.
